Boki ("we", "us") is a small app that shows your Korean birth animal and element based on your birthday. We try to collect as little as possible. This page explains what we collect and why.
What stays on your device
The name, birth date, birth time and time zone you type in are used to calculate your reading inside your browser. They are saved in your browser's local storage so Boki can remember you and show your daily note. They are not sent to our servers.
You can delete them at any time with "Start over" in the app or by clearing your browser's site data.
What we collect
- Email address, only if you choose to join a waitlist or ask to be notified. We store it together with the date you signed up, your app language, your type (for example "Wood Dragon") and your approximate country. We use it only to tell you about the feature you signed up for.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and buttons people use (for example "share card opened"). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects device, browser and approximate location data. We do not send your name or birth date to Google Analytics.
- Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes basic request data such as IP address to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Share links
When you share your result, the link contains only your type (like /t/wood-dragon/). It does not include your name or birthday. The share image is created on your device and shared only where you choose.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't use your birth data for advertising.
- We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
Service providers
- Cloudflare (hosting and database for waitlist emails)
- Google Analytics (usage analytics). You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep waitlist emails until the feature launches or until you ask us to remove them. Email [email protected] to access, correct or delete your email address, and we will reply within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
